For My Daughter by David Ignatow Respone Poem

This poem is for my father. It's a response to the poem "For My Daughter". My dad wasn't in my life so I wrote a poem about how that made me feel.

Dear Daddy, Don't You Know...

Dear Daddy,
Don't you know you were supposed to be here...
Don't you know that of course, it wouldn't be clear...
Don't you know that there is something to be said...
Don't you know that to me your already dead...
Don't you know you should have been here to stay...
Don't you know that this was supposed to be your place...
Don't you know that you really have could...
Don't you know it's called fatherhood...
Don't you know that you don't care...
Don't you know if it was up to me your life would not be spared...
Don't you know you are no man nor no father...
Don't you know your just like all the others...
Don't you know what you did to me really hurt...
Don't you know that it feels like a burn...
Don't you know your not my father...
                                              Sincerely,
                                                     The Daughter Who's Not Yours
